Indigenous Suicide rates are at humanitarian crisis

ATSISPEP held a roundtable on suicide prevention in Darwin on Monday, July 13.

It was attended by relevant authorities, experts and community leaders from around the Northern Territory.

Suicide is the leading cause of death for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders aged 15 to 40 years of age - nearly one in three deaths in this age group are reported as suicide.

NAIDOC 2015 Person of the Year, Elder Rosalie Kunoth-Monks and ATSISPEP community consultant, Gerry Georgatos comment on the underlying issues.
